September is a month of self-definition. The biggest result of this is my choice to change careers and go back to school. I'm going to be studying audio engineering for the next two years. I'm not really sure why I didn't think of this sooner--part of the reason is that I only found out recently there is an incredible college that offers this program less than a mile and a half from my apartment.
The program is going to be intense, little free time or sleep--but I can't wait to start. I know I'm interested in studio recording right now, but it'll be interesting to learn about the other aspects of the profession. It's also going to be a great excuse for me to get creative again--especially once I get through the music theory courses. I seriously can't wait to start spending all my time in the studio.
This is really the first decision I've made education-wise that is coming from a desire to fulfill and develop a true passion. Nobody told me to do this, and I would still do it if everyone thought it was a bad idea. This is important since I'm looking at borrowing about as much money as I've spent since I graduating from college. But I've really never felt this sure of doing anything with my life, and I know it's the right thing for me now.
Perhaps less significantly, I've also been experimenting with my facial hair. I've been going with economical and time-saving clean-cut look for years. But I could have other looks. I think I'll try them.
Don't look up my nose.
