I'm not very trusting of the police, but heeded your advice and called them anyway.
They came over, talked to the neighbors, took the guy's name and plate number, and description of the truck.
Asked if there was any punches thrown and I said I punched him in the ear. "The ear???" the first cop said. So I responded with "He dropped the knife and left didn't he?" I had forgotten to tell them about the knife before that. Went and got it for them so they could keep it, and now they want me to press charges, but said he may do the same in return since I hit him. (WTF!)
I told them I'm really not interested in persuing matters further. As long as he doesn't come back I'm just dandy with that. (I'm a lover not a fighter these days) So they are going to go over to this guy's house and talk to him anyway once they get his information from the plate. What a pain in the ass.

but w/ he's obviously not so secure. I don't see how he could press charges, he was on your property, threatening you!
I'm glad you're ok.
BTW - I'm going to settlement next month. I'll actually be a home owner!!!
