Here's something I could use an opinion on ... so please, feel free.
So a while back I hear from my boss that the other lead tech at my shop has been trash talking me behind my back. I've worked with this guy for around 5 years (he's been there for 25), and we've always been friendly. Occasionally put our heads together on difficult "problem cars", and so forth.
This guy is kinda spoiled as mechanics go. He never works over 40 hours a week, (I work 60) and cries like a baby when things don't go his way.
Now normally the behind the back thing wouldn't bother me - except this guy, acts like my best buddy when I'm not around. My boss also told me he gets pissed off whenever I get a big money job sold. (we get paid by what we do). Since he's so friendly to my face this all comes as a surprise to me. Which tells me he's either afraid of me, or he's jealous.
I've learned long ago not to go by my first impulse. That would be to get in his face with something like "You got a problem?!", and then beat him to a pulp.
That would land me in jail, and on the unemployment line. I'm never good with handling bullshit, I'm either too confrontational, or not enough. Thoughts?
On a positive note I'm closing on my house THIS Thursday! Showing up to the closing with my truck already loaded up. I hardly have anything so the move should only take me a few hours by myself. Needs a little bit of work, old garage torn down, new garage built, kitchen floor, some cleaning and paint will finish it off nice. Hopefully I can get enough of it done to have some friends over the following Sunday for the breaking in party.

If your boss is mentioning it to you obviously he does not take what the fuckwit says very serious.
Just stay away from him as much as you can...
