My daughter had her first tee-ball game the other day. What was amazing was her mother actually told me about it so I could go! I had to buy her a new tee ball get up. Glove, bat, helmet, bag, (that may why her mother told me about it) but I was looking forward to it.

I always get a lot of weird looks from other parents when I'm at these kinds of things. Most of them are A LOT older than me, and I definately dont fit with that crowd.

We were both all excited about her game, but then the other team didn't show up! We thought we were going to have to go home with no tee ball until a coach from the older girls softball team asked me if Mika could play on thier team. She was thrilled. They rushed her into the bathroom to change into a different uniform, and she got to play on the big girls team.

I was worried though because there is no tee with this one. Pitches are thrown in with this slingshot lookin thing operated by one of the coaches. Just when she had two strikes and I thought she'd never hit the ball....BAM! A double! That's my girl!

She almost didn't run. She stood there for a second like a deer in headlights amazed at what she just did. After the second "RUN!" by all the parents she took off. The look of joy on her face, and all the pride I had, I actually started to tear up. From second base she yells out... "I hit the ball daddy!"

But then... exactly what I was afraid of happened. She plays shortstop on defense and got a line drive right in the chest. She almost caught it, but it scared her so bad she dropped it and the tears started flowin. I run out on the field pick her up and carry her off. She really wasn't hurt, turns out the ball is pretty soft, but it scared the crap out of me.

I'm proud of her though because she didn't want to sit out. After the next inning she got right back in there and finished the rest of the game. No more hits...but she'll get em next time.
