Our toys for tots parade was this past weekend, so I'm just about finished. The hard work paid off. Once again we got a little biger and raised more toys.
We had around 250 4x4's meet up at McCormick Place to stage the beginning of the parade. For the first time we had some participation from the 2nd Bn 24th Marines. They sent down a 7 ton 6x6 truck, and four hummvees.
Once we had everybody we waited around for a while for our police escort, and gave the news crews some time to get footage. (we were on the evening news for a few seconds)
After that we headed north up Lake Shore Drive to Foster. Headed west on Foster, (we got to blow lights the whole way, and our parade line was around 3 miles long) and finally dropped toys to the Marines HQ. Had a kick ass party afterwards where I met up with notoriousDUG
A few things didn't go as planned, and there were some snags along the way, but we had more toys than any other previous year, so I'm happy with the results.
And i was going to quit this whole thing right after this event, but with the high that I get when this stuff goes right... I just can't. I got to do a talk radio show for a station out of las Vegas, and on the 27th I'll be on local TV here in Chicago.
Can't stop now!
