ABOUT THE ARTIST
Nevada Hill's work is the juxtaposition of of high art and his immersion in D.I.Y. subcultures. It is between these two worlds that Hill has found a voice that resonates with his viewer. Inspired by music, obsessive linework and imagery reminiscent of Ray Johnson's collage, Hill creates an acidic landscape vibrant with color, flesh, skulls and his birds...which parade around engaging the viewer quizzically, as if they were a part of a drive thru safari. Despite the visually frantic nature of his work there lies an unsettling emptiness as the figures, whether human or not, struggle with the need to be desired. The sparse areas of negative space offer us little rest, as they are pockets of white noise created to drive us back into fray, leaving us no choice but to deal with the emotions of the human condition.
This 18"x24" full color offset poster will be given to all who attend the opening reception.
