Random Childhood Memory #25646-A:
When I was little, we lived in a rural area outside of town surrounded by orchards and vineyards. We had five undeveloped acres of our own. It was a great place to live for a kid; my friends and I would run around the orchards playing our war games, pretending that the bangs meant to scare off birds were enemies shooting at us.
Up a hill and across the highway, there was a "Game Farm", something like a zoo that had mainly African animals. In the morning and evening, at feeding time, we could hear the lions roaring. I saw big bad bikers camped out in our yard climbing out of their tents with a terrified look from that roaring.
The Game farm closed a few years ago. The lions are gone and the last time I was there many of the orchards were neglected or gone.
