so, i'm right in the middle of a rather bittersweet weekend.
10 years ago yesterday i went out on my first date with the girl. we went to Lounge Ax to see a band - some friends of hers from Detroit. Lounge Ax has closed its doors, her friend's band has long since broken up, but here we are still going strong. and still going out to see bands, i might add.
on a much sadder note, tomorrow we will be saying goodbye to this wonderful kitty. Mouse was the girl's cat before we met, they've been together for more than 16 years - but i've known her and lived with her for quite some time myself. she's been fading for a few months now, but the last couple weeks have seen a much more rapid decline, and we've finally had to come to the decision that it's the best thing all around to help her move along. we're all going to miss her funny and ornery presence.
we celebrated our decade together with friends at Kuma's Corner on our usual Thursday night excursion, and now we're spending the rest of the weekend having quiet time at home with the cats before we're down to just one. i've never had to go through this with a pet up to this point, so any good thoughts you can send our way to make it through tomorrow ok will be most appreciated.
thanks, friends! life just keeps on moving, doesn't it?
