dudes. i made it out here. i'm sitting in a hotel room in New Jersey waiting for the Eastern Conference Finals to begin and feeling pretty good.
got in after dark last night but found my way here from the Philadelphia airport without too much trouble - they gave me a sexy upgrade at the rental car place, and a buddy made me a great mix of old Simple Minds stuff that soundtracked my drive...
today's orientation and beginnings of training were pretty fucking great, honestly. i'm even happier that i'm working for this company now that i've seen how the headquarters and plant work - just watching all of these pieces come together to create these thousands of different CDs and DVDs was impressive - from the monster size machines being run while Nirvana blares from a boombox in the corner, to the room full of graphic designers all working on people's projects, to the buzz of the call center... and all around a great feeling of camaraderie.
i got a sense of how large the operation really is, but it still felt very small and neighborly. a pretty wonderful paradox for a working situation, i would say.
anyway, i'm excited - i have three weeks ahead of me to soak in all of the different corners of this place, while training for my own position extensively.
now i just need to figure out what to do with myself in the evenings and the weekends. driving in New Jersey has confused and disoriented me so far - there's things that don't make sense. hopefully i will adapt to that and be able to find my way to more places than the mall.
seriously, i felt like a zombie from Dawn of the Dead or something, since the first thing i managed to do was find the local mall. not that i did any shopping, but now i know where the movie theater is, anyway.
unfortunately, i haven't located the place nearby to buy beer. i need to remedy that fairly soon, too.![wink](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/wink.6a5555b139e7.gif)
i'm going to kick back and watch the game - and root for Detroit to massacre the boring-ass Cavs. i know they beat the Bulls, but i'd really like to see Chris Webber get a ring...
catch up with you guys soon - hope everyone is doing well.

If you send me the plethora of wonderful cd's that I am dying to hear, I will
A) Shut the fuck up, which most people love.
or
B) Clean your house with a toothbrush, and vacuum your cat.
