I know last night was going to be fun from the second I found parking not even half a block away from the Henry Fonda...with that kind of luck, nothing else really even matters. Got to the show just in time to see Sons and Daughters. (Excellent band!)
Really excited to see Petra again. I just love her. I wasn't completely sure how the crowd was going to react her set. I knew what it was since I saw her perform earlier in the summer but I didn't know how well it would translate to a small little club. Really, she didn't even get that great of a response at the solo show, which was very sad. Luckily, her and her rogue band of sellouts were in top form: they sounded great and promptly won over the crowd in its entirety.
and then the Decemberists...what can you say about them? They will never be as good as the first time I saw them but they will always be one of my favorite live shows. overall it was a great show (pictures to follow). Colin, if you are reading this, next time I see you all, please end with "I was meant for the stage." for my money it doesn't get any better than that.
Randoms tidbits:
Wine and cheese tasting at work tomorrow! Hopefully that will be fun and that somehow, someway, an extra bottle of wine will find its way to my house.
Less than a week till Interpol!!! dare i say where I am sitting? Section A, Row A, motherfuckers!!! That is going to be one heck of a show.
For all of you NYC people. Once in a lifetime concert alert. Tom Waits is playing a Katrina relief concert...Tom Waits!!! I would be tempted to fly all the way out there and see him, but its the same night as Interpol. And I should be flying out there tomorrow to see the Arcade Fire in Central park but I had to pass on that one. My NYC friend would never let me stand her up on Arcade Fire to only go to Tom Waits the very next week.
LA Katrina relief concert: Fionna Apple, Tenacious D, David Grohl, Tobias (wait, I mean David Cross), and Sarah Silverman. I just might have to buy tickets to that bad boy. Support the people in NO and see a great show. Not a bad deal. I can only hope that when LA falls into the sea, there are some equally amazing concerts to raise money.
