I don't usually like to vent here, but since hardly anyone reads my blog, I'll do it anyway.
This coverage of Obama's relationship with Jeremiah Wright is getting ridiculous. What was so controversial about what Wright has said? "God damn America"? Has anyone heard of context? Listen to him talk about the history of racism in this country over the past 500 years. Listen to him talk about our history of destructive, self-serving foreign policy in the Middle East and apartheid-era South Africa. It's not like he's saying anything untrue. Since when is truth outrageous? I suppose since it doesn't coincide with the ignorant, partisan political-leanings of Wright's critics.
Even if one doesn't agree with Wright's statements, the attempts to link those statements to Obama is even more ridiculous than the criticism of Wright himself. It's nothing more than election-time politics. I thought Obama's response yesterday was spot on. I think it's a legitimate question to ask whether Obama has similar ideas, but how many times does he have to deny it? Once should have been enough, but the press continues to give it undue coverage. I really hope the response yesterday ends the discussion and the press can move on to important things like how much money Larry Flynt is offering Alexandra Dupre to pose in Hustler and what's the latest on the Britney/Kevin custody battle.

Sometimes I think "who is that person?", but more than that...I say to myself...I remember that person. She was just like me but still afraid to take her life by the reigns.
