So, I have a place to live now. Actually a fabulous place to live. Now that all the decision making is over I can't wait to get there and start unpacking all my things. I even talked to dad the other day about driving south with all the rest of my stuff propped up in his basement. Oh, the day! The day...!
Now all I do is wait, something that is usually easier said than done. However, life still has its little treats in store for you. On my way home from work today I stopped by at Lush just to pick up a new cork for my shampoo bottle, and on my way out I was hijacked by this little dark eyed girl who stuck this trial sample in my hand and then steered me away and showed me what she had given me and told me that I should go home and treat myself. "And," she added, "if you would find that you like it you can come back and buy a can for one euro, and if you do then we have this sweet offer now that will give you a whole box of those goodies over there."
She pointed to a table filled with little cans.
I couldn't stop smiling and thanked her and promised that I would seriously consider it and headed off home.
I got about twenty meters.
Ten seconds later I appeared in the store again. She laughed when she saw me. She showed me their face masks, and we started talking and she turned out to be quite the charm. She pinpointed me to Scandinavia ("If not Finland, then Sweden or Norway..?"), not by my accent but by my looks, which was awe striking, and then continued by pointing out how Irish people had a completely different look ("They have a much more puffy face, and their symmetry is all off. No, it's true. It is because this is an isolated island where they had inbreeding with marrying cousins and siblings and such. And everybody is fat here. Nobody looks after themselves. Nobody cares...")
I told her to come to Sweden.
I ended up staying there for almost twenty minutes discussing skin care, beauty and regional features and accents. When I left she told me to drop by the store again and she would fix me up with some more goodies and freebies.
Why do you always meet the nice people when you are about to leave?
