Honey im home!! *throws bags down and collapses*
Well I got back from my little holiday to the Isle Of Wight festival a few short hours and now after getting rid of the 5 day beard , showering and of course the obligatory dump ..I shall tell you all of my travels.
Ok where to start ? ..may as well start with the bad so things can get better . I have more than a touch of sunstroke and had a bit of a funny turn on the crazy golf course today. Its been fooking roasting there the whole time and I of course also suffer from the evil curse of hayfever , so I got about 4 hours sleep every night from being woken every morning to a roasting tent , snot filled nostrils and streaming eyes . I also have a sunburnt strip along my parting.
But apart from those few irritating little things I had a blinding time on that little island ... got myself a nice golden tan too .
Ok now I cast my memory back to some of the stuff that went on .
Thursday we (we being me , my friend claire+bf , her bf's friends , my sister+bf) all eventually made it to the ferry , got ourselves set up , consumed large amounts of barbequed meat , got wasted and danced about to the tv themes tape my sister made . ...every day near enough our neighbours got a blast of The Bill , Fools and Horses , Clarissa Explains It All ..etc.etc.
Friday wasn't up to much music wise . We danced about a bit to Groove Armada , sat through the Super Furries who were a big pile of wank and made a swift exit before Kelly Jones came on . Retreated back to the campsite to drink , eat more meat , hurl abuse at kelly jones . Can't remember much more of this night to be honest.
Saturday was when good music started .. saw Jet who I was very impressed with , the Manics who were surprisingly good .. Nicky Wire has a bit of a gut on him and a horrible beard now . The new songs they played were alot better than than most of there recent efforts so heres hoping for something interesting from them. But the stars of the day were undoubtedly The Who ... absolutely fucking amazing . 'can't explain' , 'substitute' , 'my generation' .. all played to perfection ... and there was a very happy barry when they played my all time favourite song by them 'baba o reily' . When that intro started I had such a huge grin on my face and its so invigorating to scream "teeeeennnaaaaaggggeeee waaaaaassssstteeeeelllannnnndddd" along with thousands of other people.
Saturday we went on a meet and greet with the tv themes tape and managed to get a whole big group of people outside the burger wagon dancing to the theme from Grange Hill ... and a random man gave me a cowbell for my troubles.
Yesterday was Bowie day .. and it was a long wait to see the great man. We went into town to see nearly everyone draped in the red cross shouting "IN-GER-LAND" . Now im not going to get into my feelings on football here but rest assured I wasn't looking forward to having to watch the game on the big screen before Bowie came out . Anyway we watched Snow Patrol and The Charlatans who were rather good and once Beckham and his silly friends had got done with the business of losing and buggered off we could finally see Mr Bowie.
He kicked off with 'Rebel Rebel' played loads of classic stuff and some tracks off Reality of course . It was great to here 'Im Afraid Of Americans' and 'The Man Who Sold The World' ... but not so great to hear 'Hello Spaceboy'. Amazing show , amazing showman , the whitest teeth in the world and closing the festival with 'Ziggy Stardust'
Another evening of merriment and japery followed and we made our way back home today after a visit to the beach and barry feeling quite ill due to the heat ... delicate little thing is me.
And that I believe is that , and on that note I shall depart to the comfort of a real bed and have a look at The Cure on Johnathon Rosses show that I taped when I was away. *contemplates taking another days leave from work tommorow to recuperate*.
And hows everybody else doing ? have I missed anything important in the ongoing SGUK soap opera ?
Anyway nighty night.
