So I went in today to get my tattoo touched up. I dropped by the tattoo shop last Saturday and spoke with a cute heavily pierced and tattooed girl working behind the counter that I hadn't seen before. When I told her that I wanted to schedule a touch up she told me that the tattto artist might be able to get to me later that same day. So she goes back to ask the artist and comes back to say that i would need to schedule an appointment afterall for later the next week. So I go ahead and schedule for 5:00 on Teusday. (today).
Well I go the shop after work and the only person standing behind the counter is the tattoo artist herself. I walk up to the counter and she gives me this surprized look like "what do you want?" . So I roll up my sleave and begin to show her that I want my dark lizards darkened in some more and I point out part of the design out line that she missed during the our last session. Well she sort of rolls her eyes and gives me this incredulous look like "you expect me to drop what I'm doing to do this ?" So I tell her "I had an appointment set for today". Another roll of the eyes..."your not in the book as having an appointment"..
Well after much back and forth I did get her to remember the girl asking her about my appointment when I came in Saturday and she comes to the conclusion that the girl either didnt' write it down or wrote it under the wrong day. I tell her if it's a big deal that we can just reschedule but 'no" she insist that she can do it today but I notice that she's seriously pissed off..
So when I finally get in the chair I braced myself for the most painful session I've had yet. She had always been a bit standoffish during our sessions but was usually pretty friendly. This time she was very kurt and sort of jerked my arm around to position it. Everytime she ran the needles across my skin it felt like she really bearing down hard. By the end of the session I was bleeding profusely ; much more that I had bled on any of the previous occasions.
I understand that everyone makes mistakes and has bad days but I don't think it was very professional of her to take her bad day out on my arm and my tattoo. The missed piece of outline wasn't the first time she missed stuff. My first touch up was to correct where she had put in the finer detail lines on one of my lizards, but none of the others (it's a repeating pattern). She seemed nice and apologetic during that first touch up so I didn't make a big deal out of the mistakes. But this time It was almost like she was blaming me for her mistakes and the mistakes of her staff.
I've had people who've asked me where I had the tattoo done and whether I'd recommend her for ink they were considering. I had been giving her recommendations but her behavior this last time really pissed me off.
So I doubt I'll be recommending her to anyone else anytime soon. I'm certainly not going to go back to her for the backpiece that I'm thinking about getting.
in the meantime my arm hurts like hell. I'm sure it's going to sting like a bitch for the next week at least.
