What a chaotic month I've had. My sister had surgery, and my mother insisted on flying in from out of town to make sure the hospital didn't accidentally kill my sister. She stayed at my place, and we spent several long days sitting around at the hospital, which is inexplicably exhausting, and then coming homw and staying up drinking and talking and laughing until 3 or 4 in the morning. While I usually really enjoy this part of my mom's visits, she is impervious to sleep deprivation and she nearly killed me this time.
And my dad & stepmother went to Paris for a month, leaving their shop in the hands of their not-particularly-intrepid employees (of which I am one). The power was exhiliarating but terrifying. It's scary to be unwillingly responsible for someone else's livelihood.
But things are getting back to normal. And fall is officially here! Hooray! That means the end of this year's gardening season is near, but to ease the transistion, I have raised pansies especially for October, black ones and bright orange ones.
