Despite the lack of sleep, I'm riding really high right now... As some of you may know I made the decision earlier this year to get back into DJ'ing again. I've got a pretty good ear and a great sense of what songs go well next to each other in a mix (ask anyone who's ever gotten one of my mix CD's, they'll hopefully back me up). So now it's mostly a matter of spending lots of time with the mixer and CDJ's and developing the technical skills with the hardware.
When I spend time working out, one of two things happens. I either play a crap set but manage to have it recorded (I try to record it all so I can go back and learn from mistakes as well as the things that work), or it's brilliant but I didn't fucking record it.
But last night, after hours of fucking around and toying with things, I got into what felt like a pretty good groove and holy shit I managed to record it! I did a quick check of the file and it all looks pretty good, and I'll be damned if it doesn't all fit nicely on a CD, too. I sliced up the tracks and burned it to disc - hopefully I'll still be just as excited after I hear it on a big system.
