We arrived in the dead of night. Unsure of the hour, both of us had lost all sense of time in the day (or was it day and a half) since the conversations had begun. It started at a friend's house. Random chatter, polite conversation, covering a range of subjects. Talking with each other, talking with others, we danced around the group throughout the course of a night. But during the moments we shared there was something.
I couldn't describe it in words - it was a feeling. And I could tell she shared it. The look in her eye said she knew. Things about me I've never shared with anyone, things I've thought about I'd never felt comfortable discussing, and she knew.
We split from the group somewhere after sunrise and everything opened up. Life. The universe. Everything. Not only was this person not looking at me like I was out of my mind, but she spoke as if she'd been there. Shared experiences. Shared ideas. I felt both thrilled and terrified at the same time.
So here it was, that dead of night. Once we were inside, we put blackout curtains up. Dawn would not disturb us, whenever that was due to arrive. Eventually we'd sleep, but on our own terms and our own schedule. It went like this for days - neither of us had ever connected like this before - the idea that someone like this existed had never crossed our minds. And yet here we were.
I never imagined this place could exist. I'm a creative thinker, and have quite an imagination, but this was beyond anything I could imagine. We parted company (for the time being) a few days ago, but I've felt her every moment since. Despite the hundreds of miles between us, we're able to share energy like we're in the room together.
