Egads, it's Monday already. Didn't we just have one of those?
Friday night turned out interesting and fun despite some serious downsides... First, one of the earlier DJ's in the evening took it upon himself to shut down my equipment partway through his set, which kept me from capturing an amazing performance from the Lawgiverz. Then, just as their set was finishing up, the bottom end of the monstrous TurboSound system at Hangar1018 died. After about 10 minutes the sound engineers had it going in full force again, but the mood of the night had been changed. Another 15 minutes later, the event was shut down. I'm not sure of the details, but nobody was hassled and no big scenes were made, just that the event drew to a close 3-4 hours early.
That was my first time at that venue, and while the space does have some potential, it seems as if things could have been run more smoothly.
In no time, though, an after-party plan was hatched and short order things were progressing nicely at an undisclosed location with sets from Alley Cat, Bartek, Azmyth, and Mozaic among others. I'm glad to have finally caught Mozaic, as we've been friends for a couple years now and I hadn't yet gotten to hear him. A perfect sunrise set, too...
Saturday I saw The Producers (hilarious), then hung out with a couple friends, and then I spent the majority of Sunday sleeping (playing catchup). Today has been all about tedium, but tonight I'm nervously excited about potential plans, and then I make my way back to Phoenix.
