Recuperation from ringing in the new year has gone smoothly, and last night I managed to make my way out to The Mor Bar to hear my friends Oscure and Ooah play for a couple hours before The Lawgiverz took over.
Taking over is the best way to put it. The music is many things, it's techy, it's twitchy, it's glitchy, it's fun, it's whimsical, but above all those things it just kind of consumes the air - but in a good way. I first met the duo of R-Kidz and Noize out in the desert last summer - one of my campmates had worked with them and they accepted our invitation to perform at the Temple Of Breaks. So it was good catching up again, and having musical flashbacks to one of the best nights of my life... not bad for a Thursday night.
Tonight it's their big event. My friend Mozaic is masterminding an art/music night called The Human Hologram Interference Project, it features a number of really great musical talents along with some cool performance art and interactive stations. I've been asked to bring my gear and record the night, which I'm really looking forward to - not only because I'm loving the idea of having more of their work on disc, but because it's something they need and I'm glad to be able to help them with. Fortunately I spent my recuperation time working on mastering the recordings from New Year's (it filled 8 CD's!!!), so now there's plenty of space on the drive and I don't have to disrupt a project mid-way through.
The rest of the weekend is still kind of up in the air. There are people I want to spend time with, people I want to get to know a little better, and things I'd like to do and explore. I'll just have to see how it all works out...
How've you been, and what's on deck for you this weekend?

so, you must be talking about Burning Man? I have wanted to go for the past 2 years. some friends and I were going to rent this RV and drive there, but blah, blah blah... things fell through and some people stopped talking to other people..... yeah, so needless to say it never worked out. but, I have not crossed it off my list and I will not. I WILL GO!
and, even if you are not speaking of Burning Man, whichever place you are speaking of sounds equally as cool.
