Unfortunately it looks like my application to start a group was denied. It was just a generic form letter of an answer, so no word yet as to the specifics.
Saturday somehow seemed to be all about late starts. I woke up later than I wanted to, and then it took me longer to get some things done on the computer than I wanted. Once I was finally finished with that, I could start making some CD's for one of the two things I was going to that night (the hostess said she was short on music and wondered if I could make her copies of some mix CD's). I haven't burned a coaster in ages, but twice in a row burning a CD didn't want to work. WTF. I rebooted and was just about to try again when the power went out on all the gear around me (though I think I heard my laptop laughing at the other electronics for being so reliant on the whole 'plugged in' thing).
Merry fucking christmas. Checking the breakers, it looked like the circuit had been tripped. I flipped it back on, but it only stayed back for a minute before tripping again. To make a long story short, the outdoor christmas lights that were on the same circuit (and had been working fine for a week) were causing the circuit to trip because water from the sprinklers during the day had somehow managed to short the lines (even though I'd taken steps to prevent water from getting to the plugs).
It took me over an hour, but finally resolved it. Now running really late, I still had to make the CD's, get ready, stop at the store, then hit the road. Finally got to the SGAZ holiday shindig, where I got to meet Midnyte, Veritas_Equitas, Roethke, Esther and some other really cool people, as well as enjoy some home-brewed blackberry mead. I completely lost track of time, and next thing you know it's after 4am.
On the plus side, the AZ Burners shindig should still be going - but on the minus side, I was still getting there way late. I said my goodbyes and made my exit then skipped across town. As I walked up, a couple people were smoking on the porch and generally being quiet. Something was amiss, surely there should be music at louder volume and laughter echoing from some other part of the house.
As it was explained to me, some sort of conflict between a few people had resulted in more than half the invited guests (who'd made it to this annual event for the last four years) going elsewhere instead. There had then been some drama with the hostess that resulted in her going to bed early and things being in such a chill mode. Dammit, now I felt extra bad about being so late - I didn't even bother to call because I figured things would be in some kind of insane mode and who'd miss one more person for a couple hours...
So I hung out and chatted for a bit, figuring I'd make it home shortly after dawn. But in that whole absurd and ridiculous way that things seem to go, the party soon started to pick up. Insert decadence, debauchery, fire, road trips, nudity, dancing, music, and laughter (in no particular order). I made it home around 3ish.
All that aside, I'm hoping that this will prove not to be too crazy a week. Though as I think about it, it's not likely. Without making any kind of list or anything I can think of a dozen things I should be doing right now, and a dozen more I should be getting to after that.
How was your weekend, and what's your week looking like?

got home at 0300? Or 1500?
That's nuts that they thought that a Space Island group wouldn't be welcome. I'd figure it'd be right up there with Gun Owners, Ass Appreciation, and Zombie Hunters.
My week will be filled with work, little sleep, more drinking and causing trouble.
Cheers!
