It's been a while again This one is sort of long so I've broken it up by location:
So..... I got back from Seattle a few weeks ago. That was an amazing trip.
__PORTLAND__
Before Seattle, I flew out to Portland and hung out with some of my old friends from way back when. I stayed at the Marriott on the water front and have some fond memories:
- Had the best burrito ever - it was a bulgogi burrito with kimchi, rice, spicy sauce, and cabbage - simply amazing!
- Hit up all my favorite bars: Shanghi Tunnel, The Space Room (space punch!!), Kellys Olympian, Triple Nickel, and (though not my favorite nor is it a good bar, but still fun) Hollywood Bowl
- Had some sushi over at Mio Sushi in NW (the one in the house), breakfast one day at the Delta Cafe, and had a Gyro at BIG BERTHAS!!!!
- Went to a gentleman's club - Casa Diablo - where all the girls were so gorgeous and friendly. They all seemed like they would be models on this site... It was so incredible that I thought they were going to turn into vampires and maul us alive like in From Dusk Till Dawn
__SEATTLE__
I drove up from Portland to Seattle and drove through the most treacherous rain I've ever seen.. I drove like a granny to some Mars Volta, Sheep on Drugs, and Jesus Lizard
Here are some highlights:
- The night I arrived, I checked into a really seedy motel - the Marco Polo Motel. Across from it was some crazy abandoned motel and my room was right above the main lobby so there were people ringing the front desk bell all night. The room itself was pretty filthy and was pretty sure if I turned the lights off, some roaches would steal my luggage. The peephole was filled with a piece of tissue.
- I went down to the Dubliner off Fremont Street and ended up drinking with this Alaskan fisherman who was pretty trashed already.... long story short, a few bar hops in downtown Seattle, we grabbed some beer and 4 Loko and went to the engine room on the boat he was working on and we killed the rest of our beverages then I stumbled home. I recall he handed me a $100 bill for the beer but I picked it up and anyway, I forgot the money was in my pocket but quickly remembered the next day after I found it in my jacket. I tried to find his boat but it wasn't docked anymore.
- Met a lot of my NW counterparts and went drinking on a Wednesday. From there I ended up at a few bars - Shortys is the only one I remember but was my favorite along the journey anyway.
- I did the touristy shit before returning to SF:
* Underground Seattle tour
* Space Needle
* Old timey picture dressed in period clothing from the late 1800s
* Museum of Rock and Sci Fi
* Museum of Science
From there I got back to SF at 10pm then went out to the Mission until about 4am. I was pretty exhausted on that Sunday
My 4/20 involved a trip at 6am to the Sutro Baths (SF) after a long night of acid, booze, and wandering around. I made it to work at 9:20am which is 10 minutes before I had to officially had to work but was pushing more than 24 hours of being awake. Not fun - I made it through the day, got home and crashed out for about an hour. Then a friend called me up and I hung out over at his place - I had some drinks over at Fly Bar and 821 (think that's the name) - THEN I was ready to pass out.
I just got back from Boston and New York but will share that another time.
Thanks for visiting - until next time!
Niko
