Once again my updating skills suck. I went to some great concerts, but other than that, nothing is really new. I have a final tomorrow and then I am done with the quarter. I was supposed to be taking ASL (sign language) 3 at Columbus State this summer, b/c my instructor teaches summer classes there. I was enrolled, took a placement test, paid, and then they decided not to hire her on for the summer b/c of low enrollment rates. The man who is teaching it instead was the one who gave me the placement test and I had a lot of trouble with him. They basically only put me in the class b/c my teacher vouched for me and then never told me she wouldn't be teaching. Luckily, I still keep in touch with her via email, she filled me in, and I am now in the process of fighting to get my tuition refunded early, since it is there fault, not my own. (They normally don't do refunds until 30 days after the quarter begins, so almost 2 months from now, ugh.)
My work schedule is already set for the summer, and I did it around the class so I am missing out on some much needed hours. The other shitty part is that I dropped ASL 3 from my fall OSU schedule since I placed into it at CSCC. Well now, I need to take it in the fall, and the class is full. So, I am also in the midst of begging the Speech and Hearing department to allow me into the class anyway. FML. It is hard to get in touch with everyone b/c it is the end of the quarter and they are all taking their time off before summer classes start. I just want it to be over, I need something nice to happen.
Rock on the Range
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
I went to Rock on the Range, which was AWESOME. Doni drank a bit too much and got really sick Saturday morning so I missed the 1st half of the day. There really weren't any bands I wanted to see earlier in the day so its all good. I let her sleep it off for a few hours then woke her up and we headed to Korn, Atreyu, Alice in Chains, and a little Slipknot. Korn was so awesome and I was honestly impressed with Alice in Chains. The new singer looks just like Lenny Kravitz but sounds exactly like the old guy.
Sunday there were a ton of bands I wanted to see, and a few I got forced to see (cough cough Hoobastand sucked cough cough). We were sober that day, rocked out all day long and I loved it. The line up was Drive A, Framing Hanley, Hoobastank, Blue October, Saving Abel, Sick Puppies, Billy Talent, The Used, Avenged Sevenfold (meh), and MOTLEY CRUE! I felt like I got my ass kicked from all the pits but it was amazing. I managed to get front row for Billy Talent and The Used and around 6th row for Saving Abel and Motley Crue. I nearly got crushed when 4 crowd surfers converged on top of me at once and I grabbed Doni and ran the hell out. They are amazing but a bit too drugged up for that show. Tommy ran around the stage yelling at the crowd and talking about books for 15minutes and Nikki Sixx played an equally as long guitar solo. I get it, you're amazing, get on with the show. So sexy though, still love them.
Other Concerts
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
As for the concerts, Doni won free tickets to Third Eye Blind, so we checked that out. I dug it, they still sound exactly the same. It was fun to jam out to the things I remembered from high school and they have a new song, I think it was called "Don't Believe a Word" that I liked a lot.
Doni, Jackie and I went to MetroStation/ All Time Low/ Fallout Boy at the LC. All Time Low was much better than I expected. FoB sounded great live but they preached a bit too much about how they hate the corporate takeover and all that. Really? Why are you selling your tickets through Ticketmaster then and making your fans pay an extra $15 a ticket in fees. Miley Cyrus's brother in MetroStation is sexy though, judge me all you want!
I also saw David Cook (make fun all you want) with my mom and Doni. I figured what the hell b/c I really dig small, intimate shows and it was cheap. Once we got there, a tall attractive man passed in front of me and my jaw dropped. It was one of my favorite unknown singers, Ryan Star! Yesssss. Made the show totally worth it. He is hilarious and amazingly talented and so sexy. Loved it!
Our fundraiser was awesome by the way. I raised nearly $300 for Pet Promise and the marathon was awesome. So many puppies! Doni and I started volunteering at the shelter here, and I opted to become a foster home once she and I move in together as well. I can't wait to start fostering. Technically I started last week when a stray found my apartment haha. He is a cute little all white kitty, less than a year old, and luckily I was able to find him a home with one of my mom's friends.
Also, please feel free to check out my thread in the Swap Meet group. Between the summer class bs and my work being closed for Memorial Day, my check was only $40 last week, so I am in desperate need of help. I will be having a garage sale next month with a ton of clothes, cds, and whatever doesn't sell from that thread.
Well I am going to go back to preparing for my final tomorrow. Luckily it is a film class, so part of my prep consists of watching Requiem for a Dream, The Unforeseen, and Supersize Me. Not too terrible. Have a great week everyone. If anyone up north is bored, text me. I am taking a week vacation to Canton after my final (and some sushi w/ my mommy and besties Ryan and Doni) tomorrow.
