awesome.
This weekend I went to Niagara Falls with my parents. We also went to Buffalo so I could do university shopping.
I had a lot of fun and went to the casino (I didn't wear a dress because casinos aren't what they used to be) and spent 20$ on the slot machines with my mom. I won 4$. I spent that 4$ on busfare.
We saw the play Pygmalion at the Shaw Festival. It was a very good production. I bought a copy of the play today so I can read it and get into the historical context of it.
When we read A Streetcar Named Desire in class last year, I was really suprised by how much can be put between the lines in writing. It was the same with The Great Gatsby. Not in the way that Lord of the Flies had it done with symbolism but I suppose a more subtle hidden yet important message to the reader about change?
I guess that's why I am studying English. So I can be able to make the connections easily and understand cultural and historical connections. I think that I also have a thing for English teachers and it was a subconscious attraction to English based on that.
Speaking of books. I've been reading about grammar and it's funny to me that I get so annoyed by people not knowing how to go about practising good grammar yet I am a huge fan of sentence fragments. And I have this habit of putting the passive clause first (but that's a whole other story...). So, I bought a book today that was recommended by another book that I'm reading and I bought some more books because that's what I do on Thursdays.
I have to write a Letter to the Editor. I was thinking about ripping the page out of the book because the book sort of pissed me off to begin with but it seemed like that wasn't necessary. I mean, the book was mailed to me by someone I like AND books, even bad books, deserve respect. I would photocopy the page from the book but I don't want them to get on my back about copyright infringement. I'm so hardcore.
My tattoo is mostly healed. I have to go back to get it touched up because, unlike the one on my ankle that I eventually hope to get altered, everyone can see a wrist tattoo all the time. Therefore, it's important to have it look nice. And really, the tattoo does look really nice.
I'm getting my eye exam done on the 18th and then shortly after I hope to get glasses so reading old books isn't such a pain in the ass. My prescription is very minor but really when you're reading books that were printed in 1972 with tiny font it gets tough. Don't get me wrong. Being farsighted kicks ass. I should start a club.
I watched The Station Agent again last night. That movie is awesome. Aside from being partially serious and sad in a way, it's hilarious.
I really want to learn how to speak Spanish, partially because of characters who speak really aggravated Spanish with natural accents. David is supposed to teach me Spanish but he's been teaching me phrases that I can't really use. Dora the Explorer taught me a few words. I guess that babysitting was worthwhile in more ways than I thought.
I will finish this later. I'm a bit tired and want to read my books.
