Man, Nevada sure is one festering pit of Satan. There are slot machines fucking everywhere here. This hotel has like 4 restaurants in it, and it's just some piddly Ramada Inn with a casino in a pissant town two hours south of Vegas. Seeing the lights of Las Vegas from my plane at night was just as meh as I had anticipated. One thing I sort of respect about it is that the whole place is completely unapologetic for how tacky it is. I don't buy into this whole massive display of consumerism thing though. Which sort of brings me to my next point.
I bought a Noam Chomsky book today. He's a really good read. Exactly the type of intellectual stimulation I've been looking for lately. I'm going to give more of a shit about politics from now on. Between reading him and listening to NPR it's apparent that this world is going straight to hell at breakneck speed. Politics was something I was really interested in during high school, but I got out of caring when I was in the military because it was either not care or be totally ostracized for being a socialist. There, I said it. Normally I don't profess my political leanings because most people either don't care or say something stupid like "damn commie!". I believe the time to not give a shit was up a long time ago. So stay informed on how crazy the world is becoming, folks.
and don't mind me, I'm just a little tired and full of thoughts after a long plane ride and a two hour drive through the desert.
