Why do I stay up past my bedtime every single night? Honestly, I think it's a -- I dunno, an indication of a deep mental issue.
Anyhow, I've been listening to a lot of Julia Nunes' songs on youtube. Especially this one:
I feel like I'm the last person on earth to have heard of her, so feel free to move along if you have. A friend of mine said that she, as a woman, finds Julia annoyingly cute, especially in the post-song commentary. I suppose I can see that, but I don't find Julia ungenuine about it, and she's a pretty good musician, so she gets a lot of slack. She's not as good as the original though:
Even in front of a great, big band, Nat King Cole delivers this intimate performance that really shows why he's one of the legends of jazz.
My girlfriend and I have spent the last few days together after 12 days apart and man, it's been great. I'm feeling less weird about calling her my girlfriend, and we've just been happily sappy in each others' company. We've had an open relationship this whole time--about eight months now--but in the last couple of months haven't done anything about it. This last week I had a date with another lady, which may turn into a date with all three of us (but that's a story for a future blog, for sure). My girlfriend's reactions and the honest conversations we've had about my date impressed me a lot, even during slightly uncomfortable moments. She's able to separate herself from her emotional reactions, analyze them, incorporate the true parts and dismiss the false ones better than almost anyone I've ever known. I'd always wanted to try an open relationship, but now I'm really glad that I happened to wait until I met my current girlfriend before trying it.
Speaking of which, she's asleep in my bed and I think I'll join her.
