Current events lately have me very sad at how far the U.S. has fallen. Thanks to George W. Bush and his politics, almost every country on earth hates us. At least this guy isn't going to run for a 3rd term thankfully, and of course the conservatives in the United States are shitting bricks right now because a democrat (liberal) may win the white house. Congress has been taken over by liberals, why not the white house?
I'm not a very political person because things are so fucked up in this country, but since it's an election year, and this nation has already lost it's credibility, I might as well say a few things. And if it gets me in trouble, o well.
1.Democrat could win the White House - The democratic contest for the presidential nomination is between Barack Obama and the dumbass wife of Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton. It's basically a tie. I really don't care who wins, but I'm sure the conservative base does. Both candidates already said they'll end the Iraq War and other shit. I'm betting George W. Bush is going to try to pull a trick out of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's book to try to keep himself in office if the democrats take the white house, since Bush believes he's doing the right thing of spreading democracy around the world. WRONG! All he's done is get the whole world mad at us.
2. Iraq War - A lot of people are very unhappy with Bush over this. It's this generation's Vietnam. Almost 4000 U.S. Soldiers have lost their lives fighting in vain to save a country that would rather destroy itself. I love this nation's soldiers (my cousin served in Iraq), but come on, no more useless loss of lives.
3.The Economy - People can't pay their mortgages, can't buy a house, and don't spend money. That's why the economy is fucked up. The U.S. Dollar is very weak at the moment. But worse thing is, our economy is fucked up and we're taking the world with us.
4.Immigration - This is a very heated topic. Since this country borders Mexico to the South, a lot of people cross the border looking for a better opportunity. The U.S. Government had an idea of making all illegal immigrants criminals and crossing the border a felony that had mass protests all over the country by the pro-immigrant crowd. Apparently, they are the ones who are advocating open borders and the possiblity of that North American Union some people in Canada, US, and Mexico are concocting. Ok, that open borders idea is what the European Union implements (through the Schengen Agreement), and it works for them. It will never fly with North America. It's just asking terrorists to come here and kill us. My opinion - I'm hispanic and come from an immigrant family, but if you're gonna emigrate to the U.S., do it legally.
5. International relations - The majority of the world's nations hate us. Some in latin america, Europe, and Asia and the middle east. Venezuela has been highly critical of this country. Hugo Chavez seems to most americans and latin americans as a total nutjob. Since whatever problems plague his country, he blames on the United States. Threatening to cut off oil shipments here. If this country was not so dependent on Foreign oil, it wouldn't matter. But thanks to the tree-huggers and militant environmentalists, we can't get oil from within our own borders. Our nation pollutes the air!, you guys don't cry about that!
And the Kosovo Issue - Of course Serbia is going to be pissed about it because they consider Kosovo their ancestral homeland. When Kosovo broke from Serbia a few days ago, who jumped on the independence bandwagon quickly? George W. Bush and the U.S. Government, wthout waiting for a response from the United Nations. Heh. Along with more than half of the EU and some others recognizing Kosovo's independence, Serbia with allies Russia and China are crying like little kids. I understand Serbia's argument about Kosovo and their ancestral homeland, but that doesn't condone Burning down the U.S. Embassy along with trashing the embassies of Germany, Turkey, the U.K., and Croatia. Serbs with high nationalistic tendencies do not have a good reputation with the world (look at the Bosnian War and the Kosovo Conflict of years past). A lot of Serbs were embarrassed at how their fellow serbs have been behaving lately, some have even remembered what it was like back during the balkan conflicts. My opinion on Kosovo - They should have gone through the united nations first instead of side stepping them. That's what got Serbia pissed at ya. But it wouldn't have mattered anyway if Kosovo went through the United Nations because like hell, Serbia is going to give Kosovo up that easily. And The U.S. Government shouldn't have jumped to endorsing independence like that. Sheesh. And the Serbians are blaming the U.S. for violence there. Nice.
Thanks George W. Bush.
Thanks for reading this far. And if I offended anyone, I apologize deeply. Cuz I also know expressing your opinions in the U.S. can get you in trouble too.
