Yesterday I was thinking of a guy I hadn't thought about in years...
His name was David Gerstein. I heard the song Mass Nerder from the new Descendents album and it instantly reminded me of him.
He was one of the most genuine kids I ever met in junior high school. We all seem to pride ourselves to one point or another as geeks, I think. But lemme tell you this: NOONE was as much of a geek as David. He's got us all whipped. And believe me, I'm not putting the guy down AT ALL. I even think back then I was amazed at how bullshit-less he was. Thich glasses, goofy smile and completely attitude free.
Get this: he hosted his own cartoon show on Santa Barbara's Cox Cable, a kinda local cable access channel as I recall. And how's this for talent? The kid hosted the show to showcase HIS OWN ANIMATED CARTOONS!
His stuff reminded me of old school Disney/Steamboat Willy black and white cartoons. I remember being pretty amazed at the stuff he was doing at 13...
The one time I visited his house he showed me his little "treasure trove" of candy (he wasn't allowed too much as far as fun stuff; his parents really pushed him to get good grades) and he even showed me some carob candy because his little brother was allergic to chocolate...
I remember the kid always got the short end of the stick as far as PE...picked last for teams, roughed up alot on the field...
And of this I'm almost positive: He's prolly some high powered exec at Disney or Dreamworks Animation or something.
I really liked him, as much as peer pressure in jr high school would visibly allow (which wasn't much). I think back on it and I can't help but get pissed a little. Goddamn, junior high sucked.
I just hope he's doing well and making as much money as he can and has a beautiful, cute little wife on his arm and a ton of kids.

You should try looking him up just to see - curiousity kills me.
