Yesterday I lost one of the best friends I have ever had. Matty was the greatest person I have ever known. No one he ever met ever disliked him. He was smart and funny and true joy to know. Now that he is gone there is a huge void in my soul. I can't imagine life without Matty being in it. I am still trying to process that this is happening. hy did this have to happen to him? Why do terrible things always happen to good people? I was with his family today and my heart goes out to them.

Tree cutter dies following Chestnut Ridge fall

A 28-year-old tree cutter died this afternoon at Westchester Medical Center from injuries suffered when he fell 30 feet from a tree in Chestnut Ridge, Ramapo police said last night.

Matthew Campbell of Orange County suffered severe head, neck and facial injuries in the fall from a tree on Carlisle Road on Monday morning. He and another man worked for Ira Wickes Aborists and were cutting down a tree.

"There was no cause of death from the medical examiner," Detective Sgt. John Lynch said. "We have no other details."
