Sadly, I will be leaving the Chicago area by the end of June to go to law school in Michigan.
I've greatly enjoyed my time here with everyone I met, and it is my hope to either transfer back to Chicago, or possibly somewhere else, after my first year. Time will have to tell for that one though.
For those of you with a sweet tooth, I would definitely recommend Vanille Patisserie, which is run by a French pastry chef and his wife. I was so pleased to finally find some very good almond croissants outside of France. (Unfortunately, it turns out I will not be able to enjoy them much longer.) Their entremets are wonderful with a rich intense flavor that covers the palate along with a lightness that is sometimes not available with a lot of desserts/sweets. I have yet to have their cakes, because I've been greatly enjoying the variety outside that realm. I highly recommend this place as a must visit for anyone with a sweet tooth. It has a very small seating area that is never really taken up, since it seems a lot of their business is through wedding cakes for the Lincoln Park crowd. Thankfully, I've never encountered the usual deluge of strollers and the stereotypical Lincoln Park crowd. It is out of the way with pretty much no close parking, unless your lucky. Yet, it is so very much worth a visit, so walk, ride a bike, or take public transportation to get there!

Nice to see you again last night. Good luck with the move, and with your new studies. Don't forget to write, as they say.
