I think I have a new obsession...antique furniture.
This weekend my friends helped me move a *beautiful* vanity from my great-grandparents house to my apartment, it belonged to my great aunt, dates back to 1909 (may be older) and is in pefect condition, a little dusty but I polished it yesterday and it's amazing, the detail in the woodwork and the little mother of pearl ovals on the handles, it's amazing how different it makes my bedroom look, it brings some life to it, I hid my ugly white boring dresser in my closet. I rearranged everything in my bedroom and it feels so much more inviting and romantic (which I was going for)...I bought these tea light candle holders that go on the wall that have a little mirror behind them and put two of them up over my bed under my skyline of Boston picture and it looks really neat...ahh, I'm just in love with my bedroom now!!
Now I need someone to share it with, hehe.
I never thought I could love a piece of furniture this much, but it has really motivated me to work more on getting my apartment the way I want it to be, I'm going to bring my piano over soon because I miss singing and playing and it's sad that I gave it up because I thought I didn't have enough time or space, it's time to start taking back all of the things that have made me happy, not sacrificing one thing for the other. I can make time to write and play, music has always been such a big part of my life and I gave it up because I felt like I needed to focus more time on writing or that I didn't have enough time to do both, but I've realized it's important to have both, for me it is. It will be worth it.
I'm listening to PJ Harvey, she says, "I can't believe life's so complex, when I just want to sit here and watch you undress." Doesn't relate to what I'm talking about, but I've always liked that line.
