Haha, one of the Headlines right here on SG just said, "Then Dave Matthews came along and the world changed..." I must have laughed for a good minute.
I just had one of the most wonderful weekends, how many times has Austin saved my heart now? I never would have though I would be a Southwest girl, my whole life having dreams of Boston and all that East Coast feel or seeing myself somewhere out West where the colors seem brighter, but every time I go to Austin, I feel home. I love my friends there, I've been gone for 2 days and I miss them all already. Katherine and Jimi and I stayed with Jessie and Blake, this is there backyard:
beautiful.
I also had the joy of spending the night in Muskogee Oklahoma...yes, unfortunatly it is true. As we were driving through Muskogee commenting on how ugly it was and how we couldn't understand why anyone would want to live there suddenly the car started sputtering at a stop light (I was driving) I was worried but Jimi said it would be ok, just keep going, when the light turned green, everything was perfectly fine for about one minute when suddenly the car was not accelerating, it had no power when I pushed on the gas, I soon found it also had no breaking power or power steering, we were driving through town so there was a left turn lane to pull onto a neighborhood street, I used all my force to turn the wheel to make the car turn, we barely coasted across the lane of traffic before cars caught up to us because we had little momentun left, we rolled slightly onto the street and the car stopped, it was pretty scary at the time, and we like to imagine it that the car was in flames, on two wheels, and we were careening out of control across six lanes of high speed traffic, makes it more interesting, but the above is what really happened.
We were eventually able to start the car again, but didn't want to chance it so decided to stay in a motel and wake early to get the car fixed, little did we know that this was exactly the makings of a scary movie, three innocent college students out looking for a good time in the big city stranded in the middle of nowhere, laying in our respective beds that night we heard on the news that there was a convicted murderer and rapist loose in Oklahoma, they had found their stolen van left at the Kansas/Oklahoma state line, of course this never actually affected us, but we like to pretend it did.
The next morning we drove around looking for a mechanic to take us right away, we told them we had a "wedding in Texas we had to get to", we highly recommend Scotts Auto Repair on Main Street if you are ever in Muskogee and need the best damn auto repair service, they were awesome, took us in right away, had the car up within 10 minutes, got to work and were very friendly to us, let us watch TV, even drove us to the Arrowhead Mall where when Earl dropped us off he said, "There's a food court right there, a garfields at the other end, and a petes pretzel down thar, we'll call you when we GIT R DONE"-YES he really said git r done! The food court consisted of three eateries and fifteen to twenty tables.
That was our adventure in Muskogee.
Austin was amazing. Every night was drinking, and laughter, and playing and joking and having fun. My weekend was like one of those in the movies where the beautiful girl goes to a town far away from home and has a mind blowing weekend with a sexy man. I ended up spending almost the entire weekend with my friend Brandon (I knew him before the trip through others and had met him briefly on other trips down there, but had never got to hang out with him as much as I would like) he showed me all of the best bars, danced with me during a fun show, we layed under the stars and drank beers and made out like kids, we read poetry together in bed, we held hands everywhere we went, all those sorts of things that sound so silly and cliche, but it was fun, I had such a wonderful time.
I had much fun with Jessie and Blake and all of their friends and my friend Lauren too, we were all over the city, making as much of the short time we had there as possible. I will post pictures soon.
I must head off, I spent too much time writing about Muskogee and I have other, small, brighter worlds to attend to.
tata.
