I never used to be this way. Sleeping was my biggest super villain. I started to feel the dread sink in everytime the sun went down. Granted I used to be a Dinner Chef so I didn't see the sunset or get out early very often but you understand my drift. The past can be haunting, nightmares to frequent. So many sleepless nights later, I couldn't take it.
So I would get out of work and drink myself to sleep, like most chefs do. The countless mornings of crawling to the shower hungover was taking too much of a toll. I started taking prescription sleeping medication and to my dismay they made me trip balls, each and everyone of them. Fun but not functional. Untill one glorious day, I met this herb Mugwort.
Mugwort really knows how to put a lady to sleep, soundly and comfortably (*choir background sing* solid, solid as a rock!) . I found my salvation at last but it was missing a little spice. I can't help but experiment and improve.
My expert concoction so far to get 8 hours of solid sleep is Mugwort as the raining King of course but steeped with 1/4 camomile then poured over just half a shot of Japanese Whiskey (only if drinking is a comfort for you, can work with other liquors, Japanese whiskey is just my go to). Add your honey of choice (I prefer buckwheat or darker spiced honey). Then oat milk on top. (use whatever milk you want though, dairy makes me bloat)
unless of course it is Christmas season because then Soynog is in existence. Hot/steamed Soynog has all the sweet soul comforting goodness you need without the too much eggy tummy feel. You know what I'm talking about.( I am not sponsored by Soynog but I think everyone needs to try it some point in their life time, that is how good it is to me.) I sometimes add a little cadomon or/and cinnamon for that little extra comfort.
It took me awhile of struggle to figure out what best works for me and I still have some dark eye bags to prove it but now I got it down. I hope this might help out someone else too. Everyone is different but this is a big game changer for me and I had to share.
