Howdy all (well, SG members and my small, but distinguised SG friends). The new year is upon us all and I'm pretty excited. 2006 had it's ups and downs for me, but it's definitely ending in more good spirits rather than bad. I hope and pray 2007 will bring me more small successes than this year had. I believe in patience indiscriminately because it keeps my sanity in accordance to goals that I've put forth for myself in every aspect of my life. I don't have many resolutions for the upcoming year, but one is to improve myself physically and I've been on the right track loosing a little weight every week since the last week in August. The best part about dedicating myself in this fashion is this: I can tell that my energy level has increased two-fold since I started. I also want to add that I'm getting sick less often *knock on wood twice*. Twice because earlier this year I had to go to the hospital for pneumonia...ugh!
Back to my main reason for posting today. I am ready to unveil my favourite sets of 2006. This is strictly my own opinion and is only numbered because I wanted to see if my list this year comes out bigger than last year's list. Yeah, it does alright! I'm going to put it into a spoiler for that "added" effect haha! Ready? You really are? Here we go....
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
1) Waikiki - Lost Highways: BAM! Right ouf of the shoot on the 1st of January. Her eyes, her blonde dreds, the whole layout of her 1st set. It spoke volumes! Plus the fact that she's been nothing but really sweet to me (speaking of messages/comments, etc.) If I were ever to meet up w/ her in Amsterdam, I'd
seriously give up my ban on smoking weed and do bong hits w/ her all day!
2) Tini - Wasteland: I'm always a sucker for redheads and this gal is no exception. She has one of the prettiest faces I've seen on this site.
3) Lizzi - M and M: Not only do we see the lovely curves of this model, but the eye behind it (Sawa) sealed the deal for me!
4) Taye - Palm Pinup: I loved the backdrops she shot in front of. She's quite
talented too as you can see her clothing designs. I'm not even talking about the ink
she possesses (especially her back piece) and um...A-fukin'-1 backside!
5) LeMorta - Countess: Sometimes, the simplest sets make for the ones most appreciated. What I loved about this set more than anything is that, to me, even the more hardcore members of the underground scene can look extremely beautiful unsheathed without the added beauty of ink. She has such a beautiful physical apprearance. Yeah! I know...
6) Elf - In Space: Defintely the most original SG I've ever come across! She's
absolutely the type of cute that if you were friends w/ her you'd want to constantly
hug her just because!
7) Zoli - Raw: This one is self-explainatory for obvious reasons. WOW!
8) Vanity - On Duty: Another Sawa-shot set. She just glows!
9) Rei - Wake Up: You lie if you tell me you don't wish you were the other person in that bedroom!
10) Bobbysox - Fever Hot: YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!...Ooops, I got lost in the moment!
11) Ira - Silence Please: Molta Bella! Albertine shot this amazing set! Yes, I did say amazing! Come on, you know why!
12) Meow - Absolute: How should I put this one? Fukin' Aye HOT and you know it!
13) Divinity - Cheshire Cat: Just view the 1st shot! All I ask...
14) Vivid - Foo Foo: She's definitely hit the nail on the head when it comes to holiday sets (look @ #39 also)...Easter ruled on SG single-handidly because of her!
15) Moira - Vegan Delight: This set was so colourful and bright. It honestly made put me in a great mood after viewing it for that factor alone (the nekkidness was a bonus in this one)
16) Sunshine - Of Her Love: An "out of this friggin world" set! I literally gasped when I saw this set!
17) Annisa - Limited Access: I don't have enough great things to say about this lady. The 1st thing that grabbed me was her backpiece! Spectacullar! Her face is like looking @ an angel I swear! Yeah, she' s really an amazing gal. Did I mention gorgeous and stunning?
18) Ginary - Oh Bettie: I think this set says it all. I really loved this set!
19) Ladonna - Framed in Red: This girl has some of the most kick-ass ink I've ever seen on an SG. The corset's appearance is the bonus of this set.
20) Talia - Tore Up: Next time I see a bottle of Stoli, I"m going to think about this set!
21) Mayhem - Diesel Power: Oh Good Lord! I never wanted to purchase an International Big-Rig so badly after seeing this gem!
22) Al - Tiny Bubbles: One of my all-time favourite SGs. I remember how she said in one of her blogs how cold she was the day this was shot. I, for one, am glad as hell she stuck it out to get in all of the shots. Lovely gal!
23) Bee - Jellyfish: Damnitt, I really miss this SG. I met her @ Coachella 2005
and she was really great! Oh yeah, this set and her hair made me go "yippie!!!" when I saw go live last month (mind you, she had her profile picture from this set up since February!)
24) Anita - Night Vedette: Another Albertine-shot set that just blew me away!!!
25) Beretta - A Secret Note: I love how the sun actually played a big part in the success of this set.
26) Ember - Beddy Byes: I bit my fist I was so "Shocked & Awed" by it. That nightie? OMFG!
27) Francesca - Repose: She eminates beauty with every shot!
28) Erzsebat - In The Waves: I love her smile (yeah, the body is amazing! I know that!) in this set the best.
29) Fetish - Biohazard: HELL YEAH! (Period!)
30) Amina & James - Steam: *Whistles*...*Whistles some more*
31) Jaime - Pop N Lock: She's been on SG since it's 1st year, but w/o a doubt this was her breakout set. Look through this set, then look @ her sets before this one and you'll see instantly why (It's not just the inverted shot {although that impressed me to the point of doing a double-take!})
32) Manko - Backstreet Surgery: As far as a theme, this one takes the cake hands-down! No one can touch this in 2006 as far as that's concerned!
33)LIllithVain - Psychological Prisoner: Another amazingly-themed set. I loved the double-exposure prints in this set. I love creative SGs so much...plus there's the red-haired thing again! Hubba Bubba!
34) James - The Female Brain: I must say this: Brilliant Set! Sawa did a fantastic job on this one!
35) Wendy - Go Team Redsox!: I'm a huge Yankees Fan, so for me to put this up (because of the theme) says a lot about her and how she portrayed herself in this set. It was really great!
36) Nixon - Necropsy: This, to me, would be just behind Manko's and LillithVain's sets as far as themes go. I loved the Fractal cameo!
37) Lyxzen - Skunk: Another Sawa-shot set (Yeah, I'm a little biased, but she's really an amazing photographer!) This set was adorable on so many levels!
You can't help but view each one and see each facial expression. Breathless...
38) Mary - Rokbar: In my eyes, if you were to look up Suicide Girl in the dictionary, you would stumble across her picture. That's how "up there" I think Mary is as far as being one of the longest-standing and amazing SGs this site has ever had. This set is just a sample of how she can make the most out of a small space (in this case a club bathroom sink area)...mesmorizing!
39) Vivid - Christmas Present: This is seriously the best Christmas-Season set. I mean come on! If you look @ each photo, you'll grow to love the way she positions herself for the camera. Amazing set
Last (but not in the slightest way) least
40) Sawa - Hooters: James shot this gorgeous set. To me, it was the 1st Sawa set that showed how sensual she can really be (this isnt knocking any of her prior sets @ all). I just thought this one was her best set since her Haloween '05 Set and that one kicked high-holy ass!)
Before you ask yourself "Did he give every set a fair chance?" My answer to that is this: I'm not including the "48 in 48 hours" set-mania because I've been working on this all week. That's right, I actually browsed through every single set in 2006 leading up to the "final" 48. I'm going to view those sets and put it in next year's list much like I did last year (in other words, I went December '04 to December '05 last year, and I'm kinda doing it again this year). Again, let me wish you all a Happy New Year and for a great 2K7! It's just upon us all now. I'm excited!!!
edit: In case you were curious, here was my favourite sets list from last year:

edit #3:
WILLIAMS DIES AT 24
By Andrew Mason
DenverBroncos.com
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Tragedy struck the Broncos and the National Football League on Monday morning when cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed in the overnight hours of New Year's morning.
He was 24 years old.
"All of us are devastated by this tragedy," President/CEO Pat Bowlen said in a statement. "To lose a young player, and more important, a great young man such as Darrent Williams, is incomprehensible. To lose him in such a senseless manner as this is beyond words.
"My deepest feelings, all my thoughts and prayers, go out to Darrent's mother and family. The entire Broncos' organization shares my grief. Darrent was a wonderful young man, and his passing is a great loss for his family, the Broncos and the city."
Added Head Coach Mike Shanahan: "Losing a fine young man such as Darrent Williams leaves me speechless with sadness. We all know that Darrent was an excellent player, but as a person, he was a first class young man who brightened every room with his smile, attitude and personality. I cannot express how heartsick I feel at this loss. All of our players and coaches are completely shocked by this terrible tragedy, and my deepest condolences go out to the entire Williams family."
Williams was just hours removed from playing extensively during the Broncos' season-ending 26-23 overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers, a game in which he logged three tackles and returned a pair of punts for 50 yards, including a 34-yarder that was his longest of the season.
The Oklahoma State product joined the Broncos as a second-round draft pick in 2005 and immediately made an impact upon the team, rising to the first team before the campaign was halfway complete. He finished his first year as a first-team All-Rookie selection by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writers Association, logging 58 total tackles, intercepting two passes -- one of which he returned for a touchdown at Oakland -- and adding a sack.
It was a splendid first year for Williams -- especially considering he went into the season expecting the vast majority of his work to be on special teams.
"I really don't plan on playing a lot at corner but I plan on contributing on special teams and returning kicks," Williams said during the team's 2005 organized team activities. "This year that will be my place to shine."
Williams, however, made at least as much impact with his demeanor around Broncos headquarters as he did by his play on the field, brandishing one of the most ebullient personalities to hit the team's locker room in many years.
"(Darrent) lived his life to the fullest," his mother, Rosalind Williams, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He had a big heart and helped many people," Rosalind Williams said. "He's going to be sorely missed by his family and friends and he has a big family. I don't mean just blood relatives. It is such an extended family because there's so many people that loved him."
Many of them were in the Broncos' locker room....
Here's what I wrote on the Denver Broncos Forum Boards tonight:
It's a horrible tragedy that happened on this day. I remember the Broncos-Colts game and how Peyton kept on throwing the ball on his side. Yeah, he got burnt alot, but he kept on trying and trying. He earned my respect as a player that day and every week afterwards I would make sure to watch his play and cheer him on. I found out about this from a complete stranger. He went to me and said "Hey, you're a Broncos Fan I see (seeing that I'm in New York, when you wear a Broncos Cap, people notice)." I said yeah, then he told me about what happened. I bowed my head and my eyes welled up automatically. After such a tough loss last evening against the 49'ers, it's terrible that this had to happen to a person with so much drive and potential to be something special not too far down the line. I feel absolutely horrid for his 2 children. They're going to grow up w/o a father. I feel bad for his immediate family: Having to deal with such a loss. I feel not just for him, but for the Denver Broncos organization, the people that loved him the most in his personal life, and of course, the fans that rooted for him this year. We will surely miss you...and I'm sorry that your life was cut short so senselessly.
This is so fucking sad. Yes, I know that this is just a football team, but this player was only 24 years old. He had his whole life in front of him and the way he died (being shot, then dying on Javon Walker's {The Broncos #1 Wide Receiver} lap) is tragic to say the least. I have so much remorse that I'm actually considering flying to Denver to be there for the public memorial service...
