But here's a serious thought. Is there an invisible hand actually restraining people from mixing with one another, or do the kids make that choice on their own? Possibly citing that science people tend to be dry or the like?
I look back at my high school years, and I remember having just as much opportunity to mingle with the arts crowd (I probably _should_ have taken a class or two, actually) than go to science class.
