Current crush for a book: The Kingdoms of Elfin, by Sylvia Townsend Warner.
It's, like, heroic fantasy.... written as Henry James or Virginia Woolf could have.
I wonder if I'm not in love with Sylvia Townsend Warner. Please, don't be jealous, Suicidegirls: she died in1978, aged 85. What I learned about her by reading the preface of her novel Lolly Willowes (a strange edwardian novel), made me think she was a really independant and passionate person. With awesome writing skill, need I to mention. In her homeland, Britain, it seems her notoriety has faded away, and her books are hard to find.... but some of her books are available on amazon.com, in american editions (Lolly Willowes, Mr Fortune's maggot, and a book of letters.... ) ... Passerby, hath thou heard of her?
