Mount Dora only has 4 more days before it has been in Member Review for a month, and its chances of getting picked for the front page get slimmer after that. Im hoping it will still be picked up I need another set live on SG!
In other news, dating situation seems to be going very positively. All things considered, Im pleased with myself and the progress I've made.
Ive had a bit of a depressing day. I went out last night with an old acquaintance who moved back to Orlando after she broke up with her fiance. Her reason? He beat the shit out of her three months ago, and she finally left him. Last night was filled with a lot of conversation about men who beat women, the women who put up with it, and I got really pissed.
There is no excuse for abuse. None, whatsoever. But women (and the less commonly abused men) and the whole of society puts up with this shit! Abuse seems so common in todays world that people have gotten desensitized to it. I would never be friends with someone who I knew hit a woman (or sexually abused one, whatever). I would never be friends with a woman who abused her loved ones either. But I have friends, good people, who will hang around the abusers and almost make excuses for them, Well, there was alcohol involved. I would never hit a woman, but, you know, his situation was fucked up. Or, well, Id never date him, but he is ok to have as a friend. I got really pissed last night at the two people I was holding company with who said those things. I almost got so mad that I was about to say that they were no longer my friends, even though neither of them have ever abused anyone.
What I also dont understand is women who dont fight back. I understand why a lot of men dont hit back when they get hit by a woman, and I respect that. I do think they need to remove themselves immediately from the situation and not put up with it, but, in most cases, the man is still more physically able than the woman. In the reverse situation, especially when youre afraid that your abusive partner is trying to KILL you, then why the Hell wouldnt you fight back? I know that one of the arguments for passively taking a beating is that if you fight back, it will only be worse, and he will get madder and hurt you more or get revenge on you later. Ok, I kinda understand that, but we are also talking about repeat situations. There would be NO later if I ever got into situation like that. If a mother fucker ever raised a hand to me that would be the last fucking time I would see that man outside of court. And you better believe Id try to break every finger that he laid on me.
Fuuuuck. Im still really angry. Im not sure what to do about my friends. I will express my opinion that I think it is fucked up that they are still friends with assholes like that, and by doing so, I believe they are condoning their behavior. After that, I dunno. We will see what happens.
Picture for you!

Is it wrong that I just want to wash my hands of her now? I'm not saying "Anything that happens from now on is her fault" but I'm really too worn down by my own shit right now.
