How does a child grow old?
When time is just a creation
I cannot remember what happened
Whether truth or figment of my imagination
My memories are kept someplace else
On paper, on a screen
There is no home inside my head
For every inner scream
Through the valley of the shadow of death
Years sixteen and seventeen
A miracle that the child survived
After everything that had been
Hell, she said, is nothing
Compared to Earth
You fight, bleed, cry
From the moment of birth
No more pointed fingers
I've paid for my sins
No interest in your admission of guilt
I don't want to revisit has-beens
I am the little warrior
Face too young for its mind
Stronger than you could ever realize
No longer a child inside.
My God, My God,
I will fear no evil.
I shall not yearn for vindication
I shall not judge lest I be judged.
Face the facts, do the time.
Forgive and move on.
Just remember to forget
Never come here again.
For my sake I have no anger
At the wasted years of my life
We all did the best we could
And it will be enough.
