5th Cuts
Holy fucking hell, it's getting even tougher in here. As the throng thins, the emotions swell. As difficult as last season was when kids got cut, I think this one will be worse. The muckity-mucks are getting better at their jobs and this new Fall season will be an important test of the viability of this show. I look forward to it.
Goodbye, my #1. As high ranked as you've been for me, I've felt your end coming in the back of my mind for a few weeks now. You abs will never leave me, or my dreams, and you shall be missed. Phil, my man, you gave me my first spontaneous tears on your cut tonight, even though I knew it was coming in a way. The capacity for growth you've shown since last season means you'll have so much new shit to throw at your crew. Much love, man. Plus, you got to dance with Jeanine.
Opening number was, in Lil C's vernacular, buck. Nappy/Tab are quickly surpassing all the rest as my favorites.
SYTYCD was so lovely as to upload photos of the performances from this week, so we're all spared those awful early season photo call shots. A break from tradition, yes, but much needed.
This picture makes it even more sad Chbeeb is gone. Look at their faces. Look at the joy. That is what dance is about. I can't fake it anymore, Jeanine has taken the coveted Sarah spot in my heart. Yes, the Russian routine was awful, but yet again she proved her worth with her much less trained partner. Needless to say I am very, very interested in who she ends up with next week. Also, she reminds me of a certain SG in her outfit tonight (not pictured). Bonus points if you know who.
This was, hands down, the best number I've ever seen on the program. I really can't think of any routine that has ever, ever been this good from top to bottom. Again, look at that photo. Flawless. Jeanette has always been a firecracker, but this, paired with her Robson piece, made her untouchable for next week. Simply amazing.
Did you all see her outfit tonight for her solo? *head asplode* Seriously, this woman's body is beyond, fucking beyond. Yes, she can also dance like a demon but oh. My. Shit. Her body is just...not...okay, you get the point. Front runner, for sure, which is why I have her here. Body. Fucking hell.
This routine had me in tears, no doubt. The stripped down version of Kayla paired with the emotionally keyed up Kupo (Final Fantasy geeks get points for recognizing that reference) equaled a number that I will remember (as Cat so perfectly pointed out. A moment for Cat, folks...) Golden children fall hard on this show, so her pairing and commitment next week are key.
Just go home, both of you. I'm over the midget thing, and I don't see either of you pairing well with anyone left. I stand by last week's call. I stand by last week's call.
So, yeah, I'm 0 for 4 since calling cuts, but now it's put in America's hands and they never fuck it up, right? Despite their never being in the bottom four I stand by my Evan and Randi call from last week. I stand by it, dammit!

The way they mix it up is beautiful! It is refreshing to have a show that has some emotion in these times.
