ok, kids. here's a bit of an update from the road.
So, for those who don't know, my dad and i went on a massive, cross-country road trip from Cleveland, OH, to Spokane, WA, to get my sister and move her back to the good old o-h-i-o. Well, our first day, we made it to South Dakota, driving through Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, and part of South Dakota. Not a whole lot happened the first day of driving; I'd only gotten 3 hours of sleep the night before, so i spent pretty much the first half of the day trying to sleep in the van and then the other portion driving. The only even mildly interesting part of the trip was the last hour or so when I go to drive through s pretty wicked storm while at the same time I could see the sun set off in the distance. one word: trippy. Oh, and then dad and I had to find a motel that permitted smoking ON THE PREMISES. No, that doesn't mean a smoking room; smoking rooms are usually pretty gross. I mean we had to find one where we could smoke in the parking lot. Obnoxious.
Then yesterday, we made it all the way to Washington. Thats right, kids. We drove through the rest of South Dakota, Montana (the 4th largest state I believe), Idaho (just the small part though), and into Washington. I've been in 7 states in the past 2 days, which I believe is a new personal record. That's 32+ hours of driving. There's a slightly entertaining story of how I out intimidated a couple of bikers who were trying to fuck with me on the road, but i'm much to lazy to type it all out at the moment. Even though I've already written a lot here. Hypocrisy, thy name is me. There's also another fun story of how we stopped off at this little nowhere town to get breakfast at a McDonald's that was full of old people who stared at us the whole time we were there. Being in that town was like out of a Stephen King novel or something.
Anywho, so we didn't really make a whole lot of stops. I was informed last night that we'll be making all of those stops on the way home... which will probably take about 5 days... goddammit. I won't be back for longer than i expected. fuck's sake. oh well. drinking tonight because my sister has to get rid of all of her booze. then loading up and on the yellowstone national park tomorrow. if the wireless internet in the motel rooms work at all, i'll keep you kids updated. much love to all.
oh, and a p.s., <3s to someone special.
