Gov. Deval Patrick will reimburse the state for the difference in cost between the vehicle that was recently leased for his official use and the cost of the vehicle leased by the prior administration.
Patrick said that he would also personally pay for office furnishings purchased for the his office to replace those owned by former Gov. Mitt Romney and removed by him when he left office. "All weekend long, I have been struggling with the budget constraints we are facing in the commonwealth. There are tough choices to make. I realize I cannot in good conscience ask the agencies to make those choices without being willing to make them myself," Patrick said in a statement Tuesday.
Patrick plans to pay the state $543 per month toward the lease of the official vehicle -- a Cadillac. He said that he would also pay $27,387 for the furnishings in his office.
and I struggle every month to come up with my rent and enough money to pay my bills.
