wow, somehow missy became my 3rd fave girl. I got nothing against it... I like surprises and hey, Missy is easy enough to adore.
looks like war is on the horizon ...Georgie is determined to get his pals the contracts to extract Iraqi oil. Sure he says the money will be used to reconstruct Iraq, but that doesn't mean american and british companies can't get paid to extract and refine the stuff.
and in othe news, http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2003-01-20-suvs_x.htm
Georgie is making sure there will be a solid market for all that cheap Iraqi oil soon to be at the pump. So go buy yourself a gas-guzzling behemouth, kids. If you make enough money, it'll almost be like getting one for free!!
Fuck I am so sick of this corrupt government. I hope them terrorists out there have found a way to genetically engineer chlamydia and syphilis together into an untreatable pathogen targeted strictly at corrupt politicians and businessmen.
Let the warmongers go at it on a pay per view cage match. Let the rest of us live in peace.
What had started out as an extra long shift was gradually becoming a double, going on triple. His own record for staying awake (the highest ever to be recorded in the hospital) was broken 30 minutes ago. Not that it mattered- he was past the point of caring. Damn holidays- so many people on vacation
It was then, of course, that a chain car accident changed the plans of 43 people, bringing them to his ER instead of their respective homes.
That was 4 hours ago. The current count was17 and declining.
Exhausted, Dr. Sativa allowed himself a 5 minute rest in the surgeons lounge. His hands wrapped around a cup of tasteless liquid, which the coffee machine had gloriously dubbed- Genuine Italian Espresso, he thought about some of the new patients.
Actually, he was thinking of one in particular.
Male, Caucasian, of undeterminable age- probably at his 30s, diagnosed with severe shock. That was it! While witnesses claimed that a large van hit the fellow at full force, there was nothing physically wrong with him.
He was too tired to think clearly right now he must have missed something there- there had to be a logical explanation.
The door opened abruptly- it was the head nurse.
Doctor- I really think you should comeright now!
What is it? he asked, but not impatiently- she was with him throughout most of his shift, and was probably as tired as him
Its the John Doe
Yessss?
Hes gone!

Fuck, this is the last thing I need tonight.
"Doctor?"
"Okay, give me a sec ...I'll be right there. Have security run a sweep for his chip. He's gotta still be around here somewhere. He can't exit the doors with his implant."
"Really?! Why we had no idea..."
"Yeah, enough with the sarcasm. It's been a rough night."
"We already scanned this floor..."
"Did you check the perimeter logs? he coulda.."
"We checked everything. You need to see what security got off his video monitor"
"...huh?"
"Now."
"okay, i'm walking" ...I think.
this has got to be the worst shift of my life. First, the fedboys pulled me in on another serum "procedure" on that poor sap again ...marathon session this time. Why did I ever let the military pay for med school? they seem to follow me everywhere I go ...sometimes it sucks being "the best". Everything is always so surreal after working in their world. In one room I rip a person's life apart one hundred feet away from a room where I put people's lives back together. I shoulda been an asteroid miner. Man, I need some sleep ...talking to myself and I can't even keep my train of thought. I shouldn't have gone out for beers after working him over. No, I shouldn't have answered that page. But how many would have died if I hadn't come back for another shift? ... miners actually get time off ...lucky fucks.
"okay so where's this security video I NEED to see?
"hold on.... look ...there."
"Are you sure that thing is working right? People don't just disappear"
"You got any better explanation?"
"no. ...why is this my problem anyway? You're security. You deal with it."
"You're in charge ...thought you'd want to know"
"I'm in charge?! Where's our illustrious chief resident?"
"...went home to feed his cats"
"Fuck! ...I'll be in the lounge!"
Oh, this ain't good ...just like the shit I saw in the colonies. NO, there's gotta be an explanation ...I'm tired, a little hung-over...
"Dr Sativa..."
Oh shit not them again "It's too soon. He can't handle another procedure for at least 16 more hours."
"No, it's not that. You need to come with us."
"Great..."
I hate going into the secure ward. It reminds me too much of working in the alien freak factory during my "residency" before escaping to civilian duty.
We enter a room. Two more fedboys, older --I assume higher-ups, are sitting at the table. Fedboys never look chipper, but these guys look distressed. That synthetic espresso is starting to do a number on my sigmoid colon. This is not going to be a pleasant visit.
"Dr Sativa?"
"yes?"
"We have a serious problem ...
...your "patient" seems to have disappeared."
"...shit"
