i just helped my friend move all day [10-7ish] in ridgewood. i rode my bike there, it's a few miles but his old place was a relatively straight shot, i think there were just 2 turns i had to take.
on the way back we figured instead of me going back to his old place and leaving from there, i might as well just go straight on the new road and it'll connect.
never assume streets won't be retarded in new york. hell it might even disappear and start up again in a new burrough. so...needless to say, i got lost. i ended up trying to fix the problem [instead of looking at my bike map] and went waaaaay the hell out of my way. here's a detailed map!
when i was going the wrong way down bushwick i was in front of a gas station and thought a guy was going to turn left and hit me to get into the station. i stopped quick hit an oil spill a la:
and lost control. i landed on my hand and got up fast enough to not get railed, thank goodness! but still i hurt my hand and broke the thing that holds my back light on my bike. the light still works though.
here's a picture of the damage:
in any event, i'm okay. just tired. i want to go to this scooter party tonight [not quite a rally, it's the leftover funds from the last "death to gotham" rally...a late afterparty?] so i gotta get my act together!
*edit - 2:44am*
so after going to the scooter party and talking to the gogo dancer there i'm friends with, i went outside to leave aaaaaaaaaand my front wheel was stolen....wow.
*edit - monday, 1:47 PM*
moping aside i just got a fun package from bee in the mail! this makes my day way awesome-er! if you see her please give her a high five for me!
yesterday i watched some great documentaries, one on a public access show called "tv party," another on the man behind rat fink and much of hotrod culture, ed "big daddy" roth called "tales of the ratfink," and watched a george romero movie called "knightriders." more on all this later. very thought provoking material.
That "lost thing" really looks like a scene in my everyday life
Berlin was amazing. Of course we got lost. We wanted to find a squat called Tacheles and we had a map. You know... they usually say women + maps are a no-no.
I am usually great at maps. And we did great figuring out how to get to the places in Berlin. So I really think they moved the streets while we were walking
It sucks that they stole your wheel. Fuck people
MUAH!!
