Happy October y’all!! Horror is my favorite genre of film! Something about being scared has always been super exciting to me. Horror is such a huge turn on for me, I always thought I was weird for that. Netflix and chill? Horror is my go-to 😂 because I felt so weird about my arousal from horror films, a few years back I did some googling to figure out what the heck was “wrong” with me. The science actually makes a lot od sense & I quickly learned that I am not weird or wrong or alone..but that it’s super common!
horror-induced horniness has a lot to do with your body’s physiological response to fear. There are a few natural and hormonal responses to fear. Our adrenaline and cortisol levels go up while our blood goes to our extremities. This ALSO happens when we’re aroused. Quoted from
Dr. Holly Richmond (licensed marriage and family therapist, certified sex therapist, and holds a PhD in Somatic Psychology) When we’re scared our blood is naturally pulled to our extremities, so that we can run faster,” Richmond says. “When we’re turned on, the blood flows to our genitals… Cortisol levels go up both when we’re scared, and when we’re in aroused, specifically in situations with new partners, or when there’s a novel aspect to sex.”
I love good jump scare, Scream has been my favorite since I was a child. But my all time favorite horror is psychological horror. The ones that make you think..maybe not as many (or any) jump scares, but the ones that don’t necessarily appear as “horror” form the outside. Midsommar, Hereditary, It Follows, and The Witch are my all time favorites. A24 loyalist here!! Lol
The Witch is so much my favorite movie that I used it as reference for my stomach piece!
