I took up archery a many moons ago after I busted my arm doing a backside 180 on a gap, then reopened the wound that same year while snowboarding up in Truckee, CA during a whiteout blizzard. I had to quit skateboarding since concrete and steel will always win over flesh and bone. My ulnar nerve (also called the funny bone) was affected, saw a doctor after both accidents, all they told me was too use ibuprofen and medicated topical cream like Ben Gay. It didn't help, ended up as permanent nerve damage. So I started taking lessons in archery at a local shop and range, started training at Olympic level competitions. I became one of the family and also started helping instruct during lessons or whenever Meta (Facebook and Instagram) would come in for group events. The main thing was also to extend, exercise and alleviate the pain on a physical plane. On a mental plane, it taught me to focus, and is a meditation activity. On a spiritual plane, the arrow comes from the heart (as to all the old tales of Cupid). As I started training in Wing Chun martial arts, there is also teachings/sayings that the arm extensions are if like a bow and arrow, and the fist comes from the heart.
In 2002, we released Rotten Sound's Murderworks through Deathvomit Records, which put them on the map. I'm proud to have been part of that process. Kai is still one of the fastest and most technical drummers out there, who helped to inspire me to be better. Not just as a person, a musician, cook, archer, martial artist, businessman, emergency medical technician, firefighter, material handler, power line electrican, operator, etc. But with razor sharp accuracy through body, mind and spirit into whatever path I take and do. It's always the end results...
