so, it looks like I may be starting my own business. I'm kinda scared.
one of the clients at work asked us to recommend a pet photographer and I casually mentioned to my boss that we should set up our own studio. he got so excited when I said I could do it. he said it had actually been part of his original business plan. I kinda wanted it to be part of planet pooch and we would just split the profits, but he said no, he would just let it be my baby. he is offering me a $1500 loan/grant thingie to get all the lighting and equipment I need to set it up, and I think I'll just use my existing camera. I'm going to email my photo teacher and see what she recommends I get, and also how much to charge. it's kind of exciting and scary because being a pet photographer has pretty much been my career goal (at least short term, I might decide to graduate to fashion photography or professional concert photography eventually, though that is usually just done freelance). I'm almost 23, I suppose it's time to stop being "occupation: student" and start doing what I really want. I won't quit school though. I'm considering not bothering with getting my degree, just finishing all the photo classes, I think I just have commercial photography I and II and color photography II left, and maybe contemporary history of photography or whatever.
