Tokyo was amazing! I missed the cherry blossoms by a week (theyre going now), but the shows were great and I got to see a lot of long lost friends. One Friday night I got in and went straight to show my friend Shumpei organized at Shinjuku Loft with Assfort and Nihon nouen, then cut out early for band practice. Saturday night we played with Paintbox (the drummer of Lip Cream!) and a bunch of Japacore bands (including the amazing Delta Puree). Sunday night it was off to the big show in Yokohama where we played with Exclaim (my old band), Hammer, GAUZE!!!!, and Seein Red on tour from Holland. It was a truly superb show. I had time off on Monday so I had a lazy morning copying late 1970s Japanese rock CDs from my bass players collection and had coffee with my ex gf in the afternoon before heading back to Seein Reds second Kanto show (this time at DOM, the venue we played on Saturday). I crashed at my old roommates new place in Nakano and woke up much earlier than I wanted to since I was anxious about making my flight.

Flight got made and I got into JFK in the morning, came straight back to school, went to classes and a job talk, walked home, got jumped by neighborhood thugs (really!), then stayed up all night getting ready for a presentation I had in my Wednesday class. Wed night was a party for my friend Robert, then up in the early morning (4:30am) to head to Hartford for a 7:30 flight to Chicago for a conference. I got back last night just in time to meet two prospective students who Allison and I are hosting.AhhWe just got home from eating massive amounts of pizza and I am about to crash. I should probably read but I think the sleep tide is rising..
