If anyone noticed the lack of posting this week and, more to the point, if anyone cared it wasn't because of a lack of interest - in fact no that's not strictly true, it was because of a lack of interest - but that's only because I was snowboarding in Soll

Yesterday I received a text message from a friend containing this classic example of "missing the point":
"...i'm driving at the moment so I can't call you but..."

What you doing the weekend of the 11th March?

tsk tsk
Taking into consideration the fact that I'm *such* a staunch supporter of digital photography (and digital stuff in general really...go go futuristic, erm, things!), have always been a bit of a camera geek, and use/take a hell of a lot of photography in work it still surprises me that I don't actually have a digital camera of my own :/

Accessorizing?
Dude, you'd better go and get yourself checked for teh geigh. Serious.
I think the knowledge aversion thingie you describe is a perfectly reasonable response to tech it should always be fit for purpose and if it is it doesn't matter what else comes out you have an item that is fit for purpose. That's how I do it. I always thought mp3 players were stupid nonsense until I caught sight of the 60GB Creative Zen Xtra. And now I even have a 1GB Creative MuVo V600 because the number of times I need instant access to my entire music collection is very small.

So yeah, Gates of Ahn'Qiraj thing, it was the opening yesterday on Magtheridon...i'd heard about the problems on Medivh (multiple server crashes etc) due to loads of people from other servers creating new characters to try and get a sneaky look at what happens...therefore spoiling the hard work of others ,...

WoW sucks dude, that is all.
And yeah. It's all in the plan but there are house sellage factors to be cleared first.
I figure possibly Spring might be a good option (late March/early April) as the evenings may be a bit lighter, the weather a bit warmer and I a bit richer...
But I'll keep you posted.

So then, after my prattling about Bleach I started thinking about the most thought provoking anime series ever...the very series that prompted dear limemenkui to say "but it's not like I'm expecting a head screw of the Hideaki Anno school of anime or anything"...Hideaki Anno being the writer of aforementioned series; and the series is? Evangelion of course
I could waffle on for a *very*...

Oh man this comment, my calling, is long in the coming!
Gomenasai ne Tokage-dono!!!
YES I can enthuse endlessly about Eva, for it sits atop the lofty spot of my most favoured series, Japanese, animated or otherwise.
The theories circling Eva range in their interest but the ones tied to psychoanalysis are certainly the most fun.
I am told that to read Jaques Lacans Freud Papers as an accompaniment to the series also goes a long way in illuminating the inspirational sources for the series (another of which can also, apparently, be accredited to Go Nagais Devil Man). SO, that is a project that I must get into this year for the sake of psychoanalytical shits & giggles.
As Tokage has enthused for Evas narrative and thematic depths, I shall enthuse, as the Menkui is prone to, about its various visual design qualities.
For me the Evangelions are the finest ever mechs, period. Theres nothing better for both aesthetics or for a culturally reflexive series. The relationship between pilot and Eva is incredible for those reasons and it the. Read anything Takashi Murakami has ever written about otaku culture and youll know what I mean But I digress
Eva has something about it design wise, a je ne se qua that hoists it from the generic to the incomparable. Chief character designer for the series Yoshiyuki Sadamoto in collaboration with Anno produced a cast of characters that remain some of the most memorable figures in anime ever. Ritsuko, Gendo, Misato and Kaworu were my personal favourites but this is to say nothing of the enduring figures created in underdog Shinji Ikari or the otakus culturally immortalised poster girls Asuka & Rei.
In short, Evangelion is, without a doubt the one of most enterprising, beautiful and intellectual series ever produced and is, for that reason the thing that got me addicted to the whole Japanese cultural theory gig.
Oh and Kaworu is Su-te-kiiiiiiiiiiii da yo!

I've just had an amusing thought...although it is sort of a personal thing so forgive me if it's not quite as entertaining as I may think You know when someone says something to you and, for no particular reason, it sticks in your head and makes you chuckle every once in a while; then, years later, something happens to put a new perspective on this...

Cunt is such an odd human adjective... It reminds me of that scene in 'Saturday Night Fever' where John Revolting asks his love interest whether she is 'a nice girl or a cunt'. I hate that movie but the scene will always stick...
It led me to wonder what is the definition of a cuntish person? Is it a tendency towards cruelty, ill manners? What!?
I favour the word when dropping heavy things at work... It tends to make people recoil when a 'sweet girl' says it to them... So, is being a saying cunt or being one really such a bad thing?Apparently being a pervert is a bad thing too but if being a cunt would save one from the affections of Travolta types I would honestly say 'Good show! A cunt forever I shall be!' ^_~

I didn't try to get into acting solely because my favourite hours of the day for doing fuck all are 5 pm till midnight.
Days of inactivity can go fuck themselves.
Arbitrary choices made on flimsy grounds maketh the man.

Ok...over the christmas holidays I sat with my younger brother and watched all the episodes of Bleach again (he's not seen them before y'see) and, whilst it was undoubtedly most enjoyable, it did start me thinking about a few things; however just in case you're not up to speed with Bleach and don't want things spoiled I shall wrap all of these musings up in...

On my way home from Ipswich I discovered I live approx an hour's drive from Cambridge (or at least the exit from the A14 that goes to Cambridge Town Centre). The time for beer is approaching. I will be in touch.

I am very excited...i've just bought new sofas for my house! Something that, in itself, isn't *that* exciting...after all a sofa is just a sofa non? Well for one of them that statement would indeed be true; it's a lovely sofa to be sure (a 5 seater corner sofa in black leather) but not something to get overly worked up about...the other one...

Excellent news my friend. I shall confer with La Belle Lissom and will be in touch I imagine the vague plan is as follows:
Saturday AM: I get up, get ready and drive to Hinckley where I shall meet Lissom. We shall drive to Cambridge and meet you. Social activities follow. Eventually we all return home happy, socialised and keen to do it again sometime.
The End.
As I say it's a bit vague...
