Went to see Faithless last night in Birmingham and, happily, it was *far* better than I thought it would be. After a run of disappointments whenever i've been to gigs recently (oh, except Tenacious D, they were amazing too) I wasn't sure how much I was going to enjoy this - it's never a good sign when, on trying to think what tunes are your faves, the only ones you actually like are remixes :S
My fears weren't eased by listening to Faithless cds on the drive either; one or 2 good tunes but a lot of stuff that felt like filler. But then we got there, the atmosphere kicked in and some gig magic ensued (that's the only way I can explain really liking a song i'd heard, and hated I might add, literally 30 minutes earlier) and since the mediocre stuff was performed in such an impressive way the big tunes (Insomnia, Salva Mea and, best of all, We Come One) were truly wonderful. I've not seen many live acts that really made me want to go and see them again but Faithless are now on the list - which was a pleasant surprise ^^
