My Fun-Filled Weekend
by Toez
Usually I have Friday and Saturday off, but this week I had to go in for 6 hours on Friday to cover for my boss who was on vacation. It was only supposed to be 4 hours, but sh*t happens. Oh well, I'll get paid well for it, so that's not bad. After work, Jeff and I ran to Santa Rosa to get a new comforter set for our bed (because as some of you remember from my last post, our cat decided it was a good idea to get sick all over our other one so I could get a new one...we totally planned that btw). At the end of the trip to the mall (I also got some super cute panties, btw ) My tailbone was hurting so bad I couldn't stand it, so we went to the Kaiser ER in Santa Rosa to get me some pain meds. HOURS and XRAYS and TEARS later we left Kaiser with some Tylenol with Codeine, and were on our way home.
The rest of the evening went well, watched some tv, a couple movies with the Hubbster (My Name Is Bruce is great btw, if you're into Bruce Campbell). Then I was getting ready to head to bed, and decided to take one (of the two-pill dosage mind you) of my newly acquired Tylenol with Codeine. about, oh, 20-30 minutes later I got a really big pain in my stomach. It felt like gas at first, so I tried to burp it out, but that just made it worse. I ended up on my hands and knees on our bathroom floor screaming and crying in the most intense pain I've ever felt in my entire life, wanting nothing more in the world than to either vomit or to pass out, neither of which would happen on it's own. Mind you, I couldn't sit down, or lay on my back at all, due to the aforementioned broken tail bone.
Now, I hate hospitals, I really do. So even in this intense pain, I wanted us to do everything we could instead of going to the ER. I made my husband (who was worried to death) call my best friend who is an emergency room nurse to see what she said to do. She said "she's probably allergic, go to the ER!!!", but was that good enough for me? ....nope...I then made my husband, who was now getting mad cuz I wasn't cooperating, wake up Roomy: Omeganightmare who is an EMT, to ask him what we should do. He agreed, and to the ER we went.
I ended up having a double-negative thing going on for me. Not only was I allergic to the codeine, (newly-acquired drug allergies are fun!) but I had also taken the drug on an empty stomach...(wait for it)...with some acidy tomato juice! I suck at life lol
Anyway, I'm much better now, and keeping to just plain extra strength tylenol, and I've been super tired ever since, but I'm alive! The bruising is even getting a bit better, so that's good!
I hope everyone had a better weekend than I did. *HUGS*
