Had a good time in Wellington at the International Arts Festival. Saw British comedian John Hegley - very funny in a dry and dark sort of way. Sang songs and recited poems mainly about stuff from his personal life, alot of which was about being unhappy or sad, or odd stuff like having to wear glasses. Then saw a very physical theatre piece from Canada based on a short story by N Gogol - "The Overcoat". Great combination of mime/dance almost, set to the music of Shostakovich - no words. Brilliant use of props and lights. Being Russian Lit, it didn't end happily.
Saw a combination of theatre and drumming from Korea, called "Cookin'. It was good fun the performers and audience had a good time. Nice touches of comedy, and everyone was impressed by the group drumming. Lastly saw Black Grace, a Maori/Pacific Island dance troupe. The dancers were, well, graceful (and they had really hot bods, both men and women). Just amazing, very athletic, and well choreographed in a way that was mesmerizing, not to mention the "wow, how did they pull that off" effect.
Then it was back home and back to work. Ho hum
